This project explores a three look collection based
on the stages of a dystopian/apocalyptic disaster.
Each look represents a different point in the breakdown
of the world. I used upcycled and repurposed
materials to reflect themes of survival, resourcefulness,
and reconstruction. As the collection progresses,
the designs become more built up, creating a clear
visual journey of adaptation within a decaying environment.
The collection is based on a fictional world where floating
mega cities separate society, with the wealthy living high
above in Aurion and the poor surviving in the lower levels,
while Earth below lies abandoned and overgrown. The
narrative follows the collapse of these three cities as
they begin to fall apart.

COLLAPSE OF AURION.
short story to go with collection.
In the distant future, Aurion, a floating megacity, soars high above the ruined Earth, a city of wealth
and power for the privileged. Beneath it, in the depths of the crumbling floating city below, the
struggle to survive in The Ashen, a wasteland of scavengers, forgotten technology, and lost hope.
There is a divide between the two worlds until the Fall begins.
This collection follows the journey of, Solivara a young woman from the lower tiers of Aurion, as she is
forced to evolve in a world collapsing around her. As the city’s fragile balance unravels, she fights to
survive, adapt, and reclaim her own power. Each outfit represents a stage in her transformation.
Look 1 - The fracture.
At the beginning of the story, Aurion is still standing, but cracks are forming. Food and resources are
running low, especially in the lower sectors. Riots break out. Power failures flicker across the city.
Solivara, once just another Aurion citizen scavenges through the wreckage of old lives. Her clothing is
improvised, raw, and upcycled. I want to keep this design simple and keep materials limited, using 1-2
pieces of clothing to create something new.
Look 2 - The collapse.
As Aurion’s systems begin to fail, chaos erupts. The once golden city is falling apart, both physically
and socially. Buildings crumble, the elite hoard resources, and gangs take over the lower tiers.
Solivara, once merely surviving, now fights for every scrap. Her second outfit is more practical and
armoured, incorporating found objects. This stage reflects her transformation from a survivor to a
fighter, someone who has learned to use the broken world to her advantage. I want to focus on using
unexpected materials for this design but add in some armour elements. I’m going to use car
seatbelts in this design.
Look 3 - Warrior.
Aurion is no longer a city it is a battleground. What remains of the higher ups now clash with the
rebels and scavengers below, each side desperate to claim what’s left. Solivara has become a
warrior. Her final outfit is fully built up, strong, and battle ready, blending elements of tribal warrior
aesthetics, armour, and upcycling. Her clothing is reinforced with repurposed plating, layered fabrics,
and handcrafted details inspired by indigenous survival techniques.
As Aurion crashes to the wasteland below, the question remains: will Solivara rise from the ashes, or
be buried beneath them?
This collection tells a story of resilience, survival, and transformation, mirroring the fall of a world and
the rise of a warrior, Using dystopian and futuristic inspiration.
